How is it being a pilot… who’s dependent on people traveling, in the midst of a pandemic (and travel restrictions)?
Let me tell you how it was before (and then how it is now).
Wind back to beginning of 2020: I passed the final assessment flight to get recommended for the captain upgrade and was waiting for the interview date… then 💥 (surprise!) came Covid-19 and everything stopped. Literally. No travel. No flights. No job. 🤯
We know the rest. So, let’s fast forward to today 👇🏼
Viktor and I are on the same fixed schedule, which means we are both flying 5 days in a row (well, that’s how it used to be. Now we’re lucky if we get to fly once or twice a week). 🤷🏼♀️
On these 5 working days we don’t get to see each other much. (that also changed of course, now we see each other ALL THE TIME ➜ and it’s not all “sunshine and roses” 👩❤️👨 it’s honestly quite a big change to adapt to if you’re used to getting your much-needed-alone-time).
Tip: if you really want to get to know a person inside & out. Do 3 months of quarantine together on 50m² and only leaving the house once a week for grocery shopping. 👍
BUT, let’s turn this negative momentum around.
Even though it’s like someone pushed the big pause ⏸ button in life and career (for many people including myself), I’m GRATEFUL to have a job that I love, and HOPEFUL that the travel industry will bounce back (so we all can go back to posting “hotdogs or legs”-pictures on the beach) and all my flying colleagues will get back in the air where you belong 👊
